The Centre runs a comprehensive Authors and Illustrators in Residence Programme for approximately 16 weeks annually where Australian authors and illustrators of children’s and young adult’s books present talks and workshops, both at the Centre and at schools.

Mark will enthrall your students with little known stories about Ned Kelly's boyhood and how he came to be Australia's most famous bushranger. Each session will take place within the exhibition of Ned Kelly and the Geen Sash where your students can see for themselves the research and process needed to create a historical picture book.

Jackie French's writing career spans 17 years, 48 wombats, 132 books, 23 languages, 3,721 bush rats, over 50 awards in Australia and overseas (Jackie is one of the few writers to win both literary and children's choice awards.), 6 possibly insane lyrebirds, assorted 'Burke's Backyard' segments, radio shows, newspaper and magazine columns, theories of pest and weed ecology and 27 shredded back doormats.

Isobelle Carmody began the first of her highly acclaimed Obernewtyn Chronicles while she was still at high school, and worked on it while completing a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in literature and philosophy, and then a journalism cadetship. This series, and her short stories, have established her at the forefront of fantasy writing in Australia.
Isobelle is working exclusively in the Young Writers' Days (Bunbury), Youth Literature Days (Metropolitan Master Class and Bunbury) and Professional Development Programmes.
Time in Residence: 31 August - 10 September
A keen writer since his own late secondary school days, Archie Fusillo recognised the need in schools for stories that resonated with the lives of students. Surrounded by wonderful storytellers, he learnt early on the value of stories in shaping our lives and connecting people, irrespective of backgrounds.
Archie is working exclusively in the Young Writers' Days (Albany and Geraldton), Youth Literature Days (Metropolitan, Albany and Geraldton) and the Professional Development Programmes.

Boori is a multi-talented performer and basketball player who has worked in film, television, modelling, sport, music and theatre-in-education. He is a recognised speaker on Aboriginal issues. Boori is also an accomplished didjeridoo player.
His stories are about finding strength within to deal with the challenges without, and his skill is to create positive visions of the future for both Indigenous and white people.
